On the course this week:
- the greens have been fed and verti cut. Verti cutting is a light surface scarification that thins out the grasses to make them healthy and strong and will allow us to lower the cut and speed up the pace of the greens as well as make them smoother to putt on.
- The rain has been most welcome and with the forecast in the following days we can expect to see plenty of grass growing and a fresher look to the course.
- Ball washers and bins are now installed on the course and look great.
Members of our Course Design Working Party (Paul Baker, Philip Morley, Phil Plater) have walked the course in detail to consider next winter’s work programme and long-term course design ideas. Many thanks to Norman Goldsworthy for coming too and for giving great historical background detail. The next steps will be for Philip and Phil to draw up the plans for the winter work, and for Paul, Philip and Phil to prepare a costed business plan for long-term developments so that the MC can agree how much investment to make. Watch this space for more details on continued improvement to the condition and design of the course that you will be able to enjoy. Your own ideas for improvement are always welcome. Please pass them to Paul Baker or Philip Morley.
