We’re delighted to say that the greens drainage work is now complete. It’s gone really well both with the weather and the way the work has gone.
You can just about see on the picture of the 16th green that already recovery is well on the way. Of course it’ll take several weeks for the greens to recover fully and your green-keeping team will be working on these greens over that time. Therefore play will be to temporary greens on the approaches to the 1st, 6th and 16th greens for the time being.
During the greens drainage work your greens team have done a lot of work raising the turf, installing the root zone, preparing the area for replacing the turf and then replacing the turf. During this time we’ve prioritised the drainage project, therefore there’s some catching up to do with day to day maintenance of the course, and especially collecting fallen leaves. Thank you all for your patience and understanding while your greens team continue to work hard.
The drainage work has been a major undertaking, so our thanks go to Phil Plater and his team for a job very well done.
It will take a little time for the greens to recover and for the drainage to become fully operational, but we can look forward to these greens being healthier, drier and more playable for many years to come.
