With the recent very favourable weather conditions we’ve been able to solid tine the greens and aprons to a depth of two and a half inches – this will improve surface drainage and compaction making for a better playing surface over the next few weeks and especially into the playing season. We’ve also taken the opportunity to hollow core all the tees to a depth of two inches which will help develop stronger roots. We then mowed the tees.
The greens continue to recover very well and so we’ve cut them once this week and rolled them twice to make the surface smoother following the light aeration last week.
The drag matting of the fairways to remove debris and give some definition has continued too. This break in the weather has given us an excellent opportunity to carry out this work at a time of year when the conditions would not normally allow for it – a great bonus.
